I guess what I wonder is, how you can remember things at this granularity. I mean, certainly interstate corridors and places-you-lived-a-lot would be easy for me to remember, but I could never classify other counties into the other categories with any certainty.
Well, I'll admit that, strictly speaking, I'm probably missing a couple of orange counties in Pennsylvania (I really don't remember every last HoJo stop from 30 years ago or every last McDonalds dose in the more recent excursions). Then again the real point of orange is that the place had something slightly more memorable to it than Interstate highway median.
Also, given the rhythm of the various trips, there aren't actually that many places where it makes sense to stop for food, so I'm pretty sure I'm not missing too many of the orange counties.
The blue/green counties cover a multitude of sins; all I need is the existence proof of one overnight stay and I'm done (i.e., I don't have to remember a damn thing about restaurants). Remembering overnight stays (at least when they're far afield) is pretty easy for me.
