I wonder if they've suddenly seen an upsurge in hits because of xkcd.

Anyway, I now know what most of southern Australia looks like (that one was basically impossible, but if you want to give it a try...)

Update: It is possible to get over 32000 points. (hm, am I not supposed to be using Google search?)

I found it via Twitter, but around the same time as XKCD, unfortunately.

Geoguessr's own Twitter is silent on the issue of Googling vs just guessing; me, I give myself a certain limited amount of clicking around but if I can't find a clue fairly quickly, then I guess. (And I haven't bothered with translating Russian/Japanese yet.)

I could tell after a few rounds that this was pretty addictive, but managed to make my saving throw before too long. I won't be showing this to Perry... I wasn't sure about cheating, but when I found a sign with an area code I couldn't help looking it up in order to get a better score. (I was still on the wrong side of the large low-population western state, so it wasn't a hugely awesome score, as the entire phone number couldn't be read.)
