Never mind that Columbia itself has been flying for nearly 25 years; same airframe, if nothing else. (And yes, I know the B-52s have been flying for nearly 60, but they don't have to do re-entries). You knew something was going to happen at some point.
Sure, my heart goes out to the families and the co-workers. But it's not like they didn't know the risks; it comes with the territory, after all.
And at some point you figure out that the folks on the radio are just blathering to fill time because they know jack-all and it's probably going to stay that way for at least a few weeks if not months, and so you turn it off.
In other news, UFO Set 2 has arrived. Time to fire up the DVD player.
