so the operation ran from around noon to 3:30 or so (minus however long the preop stuff took). It seems to have gone okay apart from the fact that for some reason they weren't quite able to be completely laproscopic about it and thus had to make a nontrivial incision, which I guess means the recovery won't be quite as fast as it was when she had her gall bladder out, but we'll see --- note that I haven't actually seen/met the doctor yet, nor has anyone been very specific about how long she'll need to stay, but then I suppose they never are as a matter of principle.
