the A word

It actually does rather bother me that the therapist folks brought up the "A"-word before either of us did.

"So umm,... do you know about 'autism'?"

"Well, I've certainly heard the word before..."
(Hey, I saw "Rain Man", so I know all of the Hollywood stereotypes. And I also got to see billg rock back and forth a few times. Does that count?)

I know it's scary, but it sounds like they're just throwing around ideas at this point, and besides, there's a HUGE range of what "autism" is, you know? Hang in there!

Well, they said "autism spectrum disorder," which is a whole range of stuff from autism down through Asperger's and whatnot. I think he's probably too social for full-on autism. And having perused websites that describe "symptoms" of autism, I came to the conclusion that you and I and most of our friends must all be autistic...
