Ya know, I may actually mostly agree with you; there are aspects of factory farming that are entirely inexcusable; and the complete gutting of the regulatory agencies involved --- so that the corresponding businesses have no choice but to follow the latest trends in animal concentration if they want to stay profitable/competitive --- is only one of many reasons that it may yet be 20 years before I'll once again be able to vote Republican at the federal level with anything resembling a clear conscience.

But, for the love of God, do you to have to lecture in a voice that can be heard all throughout the room
about prions and the process of rendering animals into animal feed?

In a restaurant??

You know, a place where idiots like me are trying to eat dinner???

I felt sorry for his date.

Also, if you've given your date a dense 5-page article (about mad cow, I saw the title. Great dinner reading!) to read, don't say "it's only five pages and you've been trying to read it for three hours? what's the problem??!!?!" The problem is YOU WON'T SHUT THE FUCK UP FOR MORE THAN THIRTY SECONDS YOU SELF-IMPORTANT ASS.

His dinner partner and I gave each other I'm so sorry looks as we were leaving the restaurant.

Did you catch the part about "the U.S., Britain and Israel are the real Axis of Evil. Right there." ?

In a more general response to this, I hate when someone hands me a document to read in a meeting, and then acts as if I can comment cogently on it without taking time to read it, especially when the rest of the meeting is still going on.

As another general response to the guy in the restaurant: the correctness of your political and scientific views doesn't mean you're not a complete jackass.

I hope he didn't get laid after the date.

Considering the apologetic look she shot me, I doubt it. I don't know if it was a date or if they were friends or relatives or what. If it was a date, let's just say I'll be surprised if there are any others.

Maybe it was some sort of performance art...
