Right, there's gonna be a massive write-in campaign for PCO.

well I did say "may", after all.

On the other hand, the two nice things about running unopposed are

1. you get the Zombie Vote straight off,
2. once you get votes on 10% of your party's ballots for that precinct, you're basically done

I mean yes, somebody could have organized a write-in campaign and gone around doorbelling, but if you had anyone that industrious in your precinct, that person would most likely already be PCO, so...

I'm a pessimist, so I'm convinced that somehow the 10% threshold won't be met in my case. I guess part of that is that I frequently skip voting when people are running unopposed, so it seems odd that most people vote zombie-style in those elections.

It was fun, if a bit odd, to see my name on the ballot and fill in the little bubble.

yeah, I've got my DOW futures short position in place. Unfortunately, I put it on a little too soon (I was sure the downturn was starting in July, but then the market went up 1000 points) so that position is now significantly in the hole.

Actually, I'm now thinking maybe the right thing is the unleaded gasoline futures, i.e., if the oil company folks really are juicing things for the election so that Their Friends will win, day before the election ought to be a wonderful time to put on a long position...
