Also, how did you stumble across this, then?

part of our mapping project; we're collecting precinct shapefiles for every county in the state -- we're up to 29 out of 39 counties, and it's basically Small County Hell at this point, it being up to each county to have its own GIS dept and there being no state agency to coordinate anything -- and I was making toenails (thumbnails that are large enough to show individual precincts and be useful for various purposes) and noticing this strange blurry spot in the middle of Thurston County...

Those lines don't seem to match up with lots. Wouldn't the borders be on the edges of streets? Some of them seem to even pass through buildings.

Any chance the GIS data or whatever you're using for the borders is a bit off?

the satellite photos are from Google, who basically grab random stuff from wherever they can get it, and the boundary shapefile was from Thurston county GIS, who I suspect are still working out some kinks, based on other stuff I've seen -- so having them be off a bit is not at all unusual or unexpected. Or somebody's using a slightly-wrong projection somewhere...
