My mortgage broker tells me that Washington Mutual buys lots of loans on the secondary market, so that even if we make a point of doing the refinance with somebody else, most of the somebody elses out there will in fact sell the loan the first chance they get and there's no way to prevent WaMu from being the buyer.

So whose idea was it to allow all of those bank mergers, anyway?

Our loan was purchased by Chase. We refinanced in February. When our bill for April 1st showed up, it was from....Chase.

I'm suddenly reminded that it was Washington Mutual that, on buying my loan, sent my to my old address from before I bought the house, and when I didn't respond to that, charged me to send someone out to my house to look and see if someone was living there. (As opposed to trying to send mail to the obvious place.)

Curse you, WaMu!!!

One of the things I like about my mortage is that it won't be resold.
